Who is the Board and Why should I Vote? It's sometimes easiest to think of your Homeowner Association as a mini-government. Your Homeowner's Association has a Board of Directors who are the elected officials, similar to a Town Council. These Board Members are made up of your neighbors with your community. They are responsible for maintaining and enhancing the maintaining and enhancing your quality of life within your neighborhood. Areas of your Association may be handled by a committee, but the Board of Directors is the final deciding party for all matters of the Association. They choose the vendors for the community, approve the annual budget, and decide how much the homeowner's assessments will be. They make the decisions for the landscaping and amenities of the community. They are responsible for seeking professional recommendations and making the appropriate decisions. Some neighbors are more effective than others in leading the community in a fair and legal way. But it's you who decides who will represent you on the Board. Each Home has the opportunity to make their voice heard and to select the person they want to lead the Association for the next term. |
